INTRODUCING

THE WORLD TABLE

SUSTAINABLE JOURNALISM LAB:

"Will this actually support journalism?"

To our knowledge, the WTSJL is perhaps the world's first and only R&D lab that is 100% focussed on finding and developing products to support sustainable journalism.

We are not a research only lab. Neither are we interested in hypotheticals or endless "what if" scenarios.

We are dedicated to partnering with the best academic institutions and credible news outlets to both research and test these products for one reason only: finding every possible ethical way to support journalism.

"Their approaches were new, unique, and refreshingly   practical. The results speak for themselves."

-Tim Fitzpatrick

Executive Vice President,

Salt Lake Tribune

  • All research is focussed on our company’s core goals and mission to encourage the public to value, engage with, and pay for high quality journalism.

  • This research is performed by selected students of journalism from excellent universities.

  • World Table Advisors from the respective universities will oversee and guide the research.

  • All findings are shared with respective universities to use and publish as they see fit.

  • Students will co-publish with their respective World Table Advisor.

  • We are also seeking to partner with leading industry publications to disseminate our research findings.

Journalism is changing. It does not look the same as it used to. Some may think it is dying. But it isn’t. And it won’t. We (the WTSJ Lab) believe that we need to and can find solutions. We don’t yet have or know all the answers, but we see and recognize the issues and the obligation to act...

INDUSTRY ADVISORS:

Our Industry Advisors are members of the academic or newspaper industry who have joined our team to help guide and advise us in our mission.

THE ROLE OF WORLD TABLE ADVISORS:

World Table Advisors are journalism experts from the academic and news industry who help us fulfill our company mission as a registered Public Benefit Corporation that is also a Certified Public Benefit Company, according to requirements established by B-Lab, makers of the original Public Benefit Corporation.

The purpose of the advisory board is to help us establish credibility within the industry beyond our own good intentions and statements. We look to these advisors for both internal and external validation of our mission, motives, and actions as we strive to build products and solutions that will ultimately support the monetary needs of excellent journalism everywhere.

World Table Advisors are expected to hold us accountable privately and publicly. These positions are compensated and there is no firewall between them and our decisions, flaws and agendas. Advisors are expected to advocate for our cause, help us navigate the news industry, and be our voice. Advisors have the power to ratify our final mission statement, guiding principles and core goals, which are then voted on by our Board of Directors as part of our company’s legal and binding reason for existence.

OPEN REQ for ADVISORS to the WORLD TABLE:

We are currently interviewing for more advisors to join our team in the fall of 2019.
