World Table Introduces Single Sign-On Services for BLOX CMS

Updated: Mar 13

MOLINE, IL.— TownNews and World Table are pleased to announce a joint effort to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) for commenting on the BLOX CMS platform using World Table’s highly regarded engagement suite. The development allows BLOX publishers to seamlessly employ any of World Table’s innovative engagement tools for existing users, but more importantly, leverages those engagement tools to generate new signups without losing them to third-party systems, like Facebook and Google.

World Table CEO, Bryan Hall, at Silicon Slopes Town Hall.

“Sure, we’re also are a third-party, but when readers are using our tools to engage on the site they feel like they’re talking directly to the newspaper,” says Bryan Hall, CEO of World Table. “Whether they are taking surveys, making comments, or interacting with other readers, their information and that relationship rightfully belong to the paper, and we want to keep it that way.”

As of January 1, 2020, World Table SSO is now available for all TownNews publications. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch acted as the flagship paper for the SSO release. “Having a single-sign-on for the site is a huge advantage,” says Beth O’Malley, Online Content Coordinator at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Having a simple system to use helps us get more people to create log-ins for our site, and then to make comments as well. When we switched, users took to the new system fairly quickly, and I think the single log-in helped with that process.”

St. Louis Post-Dispatch sees over 5,000 new signups in first six months.

Following the success there, World Table has now made SSO available to all BLOX CMS publications. Because World Table is already fully integrated with BLOX CMS, installation is a short and simple process for the in-house staff of any publication, regardless of their level of technical expertise.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch has seen over 6,000 sign-ups of new and existing users in the first seven months. Each of these comes any time a user engages with the paper via World Table engagement tools for the first time. Even after the first six months, St. Louis Post-Dispatch continues to see close to 200 sign-ups each week.
