A PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION SERVING JOURNALISM:
A PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION SERVING JOURNALISM:
Public Benefit Corporations operate like regular corporations with one major exception: Corporations are legally required to maximize profits for their shareholders as their reason for existence. Public Benefit Corporations are allowed to legally add an additional reason for existence that serves a social or environmental need - allowing them to serve both purposes. “Certified” Public Benefit Corporations meet even higher standards that prove (or certify) they are doing the things they claim to be doing - or at least trying.
We have chosen Journalism as the cause we want our business to serve.

...journalists need friends in the business world."

OUR CORE GOALS:
1 - Our products and approaches will encourage the public to value, engage with, and pay for high quality journalism.
2 - If we achieve the first goal we will become the premiere engagement suite for journalists everywhere.
As a company that's constantly evolving, it's important to state these to ourselves and others often.
We are a business that is focussed on trying to solve a major problem in the world right now. But sometimes in the hectic day-to-day operations it's easy to forget where we're trying to go. Sometimes the customer isn't right for us. Sometimes the quickest solution is the worst choice. Other times we might need to get scrappy and make something work with very little time or hands on deck.
All of these things come into play when building a business. But our short term goals must still always be guided by our ultimate long term plans.
"How do we actually change the entire industry?"
